I hate Black Friday.
It's like an excuse to be rude for a day, on the first official shopping day of the Christmas Holiday.
People swinging elbows, knocking down their mothers to get a great deal on a plasma TV.
Then, there are people who act like every day is Black Friday.
A young, pregnant woman was shopping with her mother in Toys-R-Us over the weekend.
What I believed to be the woman's child was attempting to ride a razor scooter around the bike section, when she came very close to ramming into an older man.
The man reached down and grabbed the handlebars to stop the child from slamming into him, and touched her arm to stop her from falling down.
He said something to the effect of "watch out little lady!!!"
The little girl was one of several kids, mostly unsupervised, racing around the bike section at the time.
It was at this point, mom turned to see the man talking down to her daughter.
This is where the story begins.
Within 5 seconds, the mother is in the man's face as her voice begins a crescendo so everyone in the bike section can hear her.
"Don't touch my child" and "Don't lecture my child", are just a few of the fragments spewing from her now curled lip, as the man starts to raise his voice to obviously try to explain what had happened while mom was ignoring her child.
Then, Grandma started in with the occasional repetition, as if to try and add credence to what her daughter was saying.
"I'll sue you!", to which she replied "Yea, she'll sue you!"
It has always amazed me how smart some people become in regards to the law, when reading someone the riot act.
She asks him to "touch her", the obvious touch me and I'll sue routine, then in the same breath wishes her husband or boyfriend was there so he could pulverize the older man.
Happy Holidays!!
The verbal assault was launched, I believe, to cover up for the fact that mom was paying no attention to her child.
Then, to top it off, the woman wants a manager and proceeds to follow the man through the store, yelling for security or a manager, as if the man is trying to flee the scene of the crime.
Yes, he was trying to flee alright, to get away from her.
Afterwards, I talked to a woman, who I assumed was in charge, after she listened to both sides of the story.
I told her I witnessed the confrontation and filled in some holes left by the woman.
She told me the man had two artificial knees.
I'll bet he still could have used one to give her a swift kick in the backside.

Another case of horrible parenting and unnecessary hostility. What's sad is such actions teaches kids to respect no one at all, not even their parents for behaving that way.
I'm very glad you were there, and kind enough to fill in those holes the woman left behind. This situation is ridiculous, and I must agree that she through such a tantrum in order to cover up the fact that she was not watching her child.
and just think she is prego and blessing this world with another child who she will no doubt let run free as well. Sometimes I wonder why people like that have the ability to reproduce at all. Thank goodness you were there to help fill in the blanks.
You know what the saddest part of the story is? The next time that man sees a disaster about to happen, he'll probably just step out of the way so that he doesn't get berated for interfering! This is exactly why people don't get involved. No good deed goes unpunished.
I ran into a case of this last year at the Rite Aid store in Taft. A woman let her two daughters run wild in the store, the knocked some items off a shelf and a store employee nicely asked them to put the items back on the shelf. The kids cursed at the employee and ran off and go their mother who was dropping the "F" bomb like crazy. The lady was screaming in the aisles calling the employee all kinds of names ("F" and "B" were the words she seemed to like). I had had it, I walked up and asked the lady to keep her voice down, their are children in the store, etc. She told me to mind my own "F" business. I said she was a fine example to her young daughters using that kind of language and since she was yelling she made this business everyone's business. The store called the police on her, and she still claimed it was the employee being rude to her kids. And people wonder why no one has any respect for anyone...it all starts in the home.
Toys R Us should have called the police...on the lady for making a scene.
Yep, it figures! Another so called "responsible" parent that blames a person for her failure to watch her child. But what goes around comes around. And unfortunately with some of these idiots, it takes a tradgey to wake them up! Props to you for stepping in to tell what you saw!!
Thats really so sad.People really should not be allowed to just have kids. A couple got arrested in Hagerstown, Md.for leaving their two year old in the car ALONE. So you leave your kids alone so you can get a great bargain on Black Friday? I bet the pedophiles just love that day. A bunch of unsupervised kids.
WOOFWOOF
That makes me sick to my stomach. Whatever happened to common curtousy? And not just that but I remember when I was young it was nothing for a neighbor to scold you if you were doing something wrong. It takes a village to raise a child, right? I hope that lady somehow reads this and feels like the dumbass that she sounds like she is.
Yet another reason why I hate shopping. Unfortunately there are too many parents like her. I am one of those moms who tells my kids, "See that man over there **pointing to an employee** he's going to take you to the Security Room with the police if you don't listen to me and stop running down the aisles." And I LOVE it when someone says something to them.....because then I'm not a liar and they stop being rude. If either of my kids got on a scooter and rode it in any store, I would carry them out and not take them back. I think that's rude.
I was at Wal-Mart on Black Friday and I got stuck in the toy department that was out in garden center and it was packed in there noone could go anywhere and this prego lady wanted to fight me because i was white and wouldnt move out of her way and she said i should have moved cause she was prego.
this was the first time in years that i attempted to conquer black friday... i don't think i'll ever do it again. i'd rather pay the extra couple of dollars just to keep my sanity and stay away from all the whackies that apparently only shop once a year and drag their children around to fight the crowds. why don't they have a babysitter stay at home with the kid(s)? i'm a single mom and i was able to arrange that... aye! don't people think?! how can they shop and monitor the kids and believe they're in the "right" when it comes to battling over that last shirt/toy? pure craziness... black friday and the day after christmas, i'd rather stay home.
i feel for that poor guy who was the victim of a horrible parent bringing another child in the world when they can't even control the first one.
happy holidays.
I Nevered like shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Traffic was even terrible on Ming Avenue especially. I do agree with you Black Friday was wild and grazy. We should move all of our shopping to the Dollar Tree Store.. Extremely high energy price's will make these greedy oil companies think, were all poor.. Happy Holidays.
If that had been my child (since I admit, mine has escaped a few times, but never for long) I would have thanked him, apologized to him, and then gave her one heck of a scolding. What a wretched woman, that man must have the patience of a saint ... or just old school class ... for having not knocked her upside the head with the nearest box of rollerblades.
